ZFOAM PRESENTS THE GRADE HT 45, THE NEW FOAM AZOTE® IS AN ALTERNATIVE TO THE CELLULAR RUBBERS WITH SUBSTANTIAL COST SAVINGS

Zotefoams has developed the new foam HT45 for applications where the resilience, the elasticity and the temperature are important.

EPDM or EPDM/CR rubbers have traditionally been used for industrial applications of tightness and vibration damping that combine three main properties:

-Elasticity

-Resilience: ability to return to the original form after being compressed

-Temperature resistance for continuous use above 80ºC

Until now, the product Evazote® EV 50 had two initial properties but it was limited to continuous operating temperatures between 65 and 70ºC. The EPDM and EPDM/CR rubber foams were used for temperatures over 70ºC in industrial applications, automobile industry and tightness.

The product HT 45 presents upgrading properties of temperature resistance with possibility of use up to 90º and excellent mechanical properties compared to the above mentioned rubber types. It is manufactured by injecting pressurized nitrogen, with the traditional method use to manufacture the types Plastazote ® and Evazote ®. All Azote® materials are free from foaming chemical residues, volatile organic compounds, CFCs and HCFCs. They meet the most demanding requirements of the market concerning the presence of chemical compounds, fogging and odor.

The following table shows the comparative properties of the type HT 45 vs. a traditional grade EPDM cellular rubber:

As you can see, the HT45 foam properties meet or exceed the properties of EPDM rubber, with a significant weight and cost savings compared with the original solutions based on EPDM rubbers.

In summary, the main advantages of HT grade 45 are:

-Significant savings in raw material costs

-Lower weight than current solutions of cellular rubber

-No chemical residues

-Meets the standards of fogging and odor required by automotive industry

-Ease of processing

-Dimensional stability

HT 45 is available in sheets, cut pieces or tapes with and without adhesive.

DO YOU KNOW THAT OUR FOAM CAN BE USED IN ARCHEOLOGY?

The remains of King Peter I the Great were removed from his grave in March 2012 on a Plastazote “bed” in a project of the Museum of the History of Catalonia and the Ministry of Culture of the Government of Catalonia.
After  a three-dimensional profile of the human and a complex process a countermould was made of PLASTAZOTE foam.
This PLASTAZOTE piece was used as a support for handling the remains of King Peter the Great.

ZOTEK® N FOAMS FOR HIGH TEMPERATURE RESISTANT APPLICATIONS

Zotek® N polyamide foams are manufactured by using a unique foaming process consisting of the injection of nitrogen at high pressure. They have a closed cell structure and excellent properties such as high temperature resistance and chemical resistance to hydrocarbons.

A typical application involving the use of foam with high temperature resistance and closed pores is the brackets for metal parts during painting and subsequent drying processes.

A product such as Zotek® N makes it possible to continuously work at temperatures of 180 °C, which were so far unattainable for other closed cell foams. It ensures long life of the foam and the ability to reduce cycle times with progressive increases in the drying temperature.

Other typical highly demanding applications at high temperatures are
:

  • Dampening and soundproofing parts near engine areas in automobiles and industrial vehicles.
  • Protection by lamination for other foams which have a lower temperature resistance.
  • High temperature sterilization.
