NEW FIRE RESISTARDANT PLASTAZOTE® FOAMS FOR INSULATION APPLICATIONS IN TRAINS, TRAMS AND UNDERGROUNDS WITH CLASSIFICATION ACCORDING TO EN45545 HL1/ HL2/ HL3

Some foams of the range Plastazote® with low density FR additives have obtained excellent results in accordance with EN 45545-2:2013. The classification achieved is the following:

Requirement
Classification
R1
HL1 / HL2 / HL3
R10
HL1 / HL2 / HL3

Plastazote® foams are cross linked polyolefin foams of high purity, with expansion by pressure nitrogen injection. The following properties can be considered for applications of thermal and duct liner insulation for trains, trams and undergrounds:

  • Excellent thermal conductivity value (λ = 0.037 W / mK)
  • Closed cell structure with very low water absorption, which avoids the problems of loss of insulation properties suffered by open cell materials that can absorb water.
  • Foaming by pressure nitrogen injection, without chemical agents
  • Without foaming chemical residues (VOC)
  • Easy adaptability to curved surfaces.
  • Excellent properties for cutting and machining process
These products have been specifically developed for applications in climates with low or very low temperatures and problems of water vapor condensation.

Certificates for these materials are available upon request to our sales department.

NEW FOAMS PLASTAZOTE® WITH FIRE RESISTANCE CLASSIFICATION ACCORDING TO EUROCLASSES B S1 D0 FOR THICKNESSES UP TO 40MM

The new products Plastazote® MP 15 FR EB40 have obtained a classification according to B s1 d0 Euroclass for the thickness range of 2 to 40 mm (standard EN 1350-1:2007 + A1:2009).

This classification has been obtained without surface foam protection, testing the product in free position (not glued to metal sheet).

This outstanding performance opens doors to the use of this material in demanding applications of thermal insulation and flame retardant with the characteristic properties of Plastazote ® products:

  • Foaming by pressure nitrogen injection without chemical agents
  • Without foaming chemical residues
  • Very low thermal conductivity
  • Closed cell without absorption of water
  • Easy manipulation
This certification allows its use in applications of thermal insulation and anti condensation in industry, air-conditioning and shipbuilding.

Other existing grade, Plastazote® LD 24 FM, has obtained classification B s1 d0 for the thickness range of 2-10 mm.

Certificates for these materials are available upon request to our sales department.

ZFOAM AND LEAN MANUFACTURING (5S): TRAYS FOR MANAGEMENT OF TOOLS

The 5s is a methodology of Japanese origin which aims to maintain a workplace organized, clean and safe. 5S is considered as key in the implementation of Lean Manufacturing ("lean production"). It is a management model focused on giving maximum value to customers, using the minimum resources needed (lean).

Productivity decreases with a dirty or disorganized workplace or in a place where the working tools cannot be found.

5S uses a list of five Japanese words beginning with the letter "S":
  • Seiri: Sorting
  • Seiton: Setting in order
  • Seiso: Shining
  • Seiketsu: Standardizing.
  • Shitsuke: Sustaining.
LEAN MANUFACTURING_5S

To obtain the “S” of “Seiton” (Setting in order) it is necessary once you have defined the elements or tools needed for the job, they are ordered and identified so that they are easy to access and use.

In ZFoam we can produce trays for the management of the tools and office supplies (they can be made with contrasting colors lamination that allows rapid identification of tools if lost).
