SUITABLE FOAMS FOR FOOD CONTACT

ZFoam and Plastazote foams:

Due to demands from the market of plastic foams for packaging and pieces suitable for food contact, Zfoam has carried out overall and specific migration testing (*) with its range of Plastazote foams and the values obtained are well below the limits currently in force.

In addition to the product testing, ZFoam has implemented a HACCP system (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point) in order to have a strict hygienic and sanitary control at all stages of the foam conversion process; from the reception of the raw material until the end product is dispatched to the final customer, through the various conversion stages.

As a result of this implementation, Zfoam has been registered in the General Sanitary Register of food business operators and food products (Nº 39.005538/Z). Zfoam is one of the few foam converters at the national level that can convert and produce suitable foams for food contact.

ZPrinting: DIGITAL PRINTING ON FOAM

In its range of luxury packaging, Zfoam, already provided the possibility of adding surface finishes to its foams: printed cardboards or fabrics (that looks like wood, cork…), personalizing with laser engraving (with logo, brand or patterns) and giving a velvety appearance “velvet touch” without laminating.

This year, ZFoam has enlarged the possibility of giving to your packaging an even more luxurious and personalized appearance through the option of making a digital printout on the foam.

During the fair Luxe Pack 2015, that takes place every year in Monaco and gathers leading specialists in Packaging of luxury products, Zfoam has exhibited some of the possibilities offered by digital printing on foam.

Moreover, ZFoam works with its customers to design the final parts and prepare prototypes and pre-series for validation prior to the start of production phase. We develop prototypes without the need to invest in moulds or tools.

THE FUTURE BECOMES PACKAGING: HISPACK 2015

Once again this year, Zfoam will be exhibiting at Hispack, the international fair which will be held from the 21st until the 24th of April 2015 in Barcelona. Hispack offers the best packaging solutions on the market.

Hispack is the main fair of packaging and point of sales advertising (POS) in Spain and it is among the most important in Europe.

Hispack will present design solutions, new materials, manufacturing processes for packaging, and a wide range of containers and packaging for industrial sectors and the consumer goods sector.

Hispack is a meeting with international impact as it has more than 50 000 international visitors coming from the food industry, pharmaceutical and chemical sector, perfumery and cosmetics sector and other specialist fields.

SPECIAL SURFACE FINISH “VELVET TOUCH” IN FOAM INSERTS FOR PACKAGING

In its product range of luxury packaging, ZFoam offers the possibility of adding surface finishes to its foams: fabric, printed cardboards, natural products (wood, cork…), plastic sheets and personalizing the product with surface engraving of the logo, brand or patterns…in order to supply an exclusive luxury packaging for your cosmetics, perfumes, wines, liquors, jewelry…

NEW FIRE RESISTARDANT PLASTAZOTE® FOAMS FOR INSULATION APPLICATIONS IN TRAINS, TRAMS AND UNDERGROUNDS WITH CLASSIFICATION ACCORDING TO EN45545 HL1/ HL2/ HL3

Some foams of the range Plastazote® with low density FR additives have obtained excellent results in accordance with EN 45545-2:2013. The classification achieved is the following:

Plastazote® foams are cross linked polyolefin foams of high purity, with expansion by pressure nitrogen injection. The following properties can be considered for applications of thermal and duct liner insulation for trains, trams and undergrounds:

• Excellent thermal conductivity value (λ = 0.037 W / mK)
• Closed cell structure with very low water absorption, which avoids the problems of loss of insulation properties suffered by open cell materials that can absorb water.
• Foaming by pressure nitrogen injection, without chemical agents
• Without foaming chemical residues (VOC)
• Easy adaptability to curved surfaces.
• Excellent properties for cutting and machining process

These products have been specifically developed for applications in climates with low or very low temperatures and problems of water vapor condensation.
